Marguerite dyes the warps. She works with both synthetic and natural dyestuffs and is candid about the difference: the reactive dyes match to a number, the madder and indigo do not, and a customer who needs an exact repeat two years from now should be told that at the quotation stage rather than the delivery.

Every lot is assessed in a light box under daylight, shop and tungsten illuminants, because a wool that matches under one and not the others will be rejected on site.
